Migration of Purpose at Work

This artifact represents my work on the early-stage replication of the Purpose at Work Coursera module in preparation for its eventual migration to Canvas. Unlike the Generative AI: Shaping Work and Tasks course, this module lacked a complete set of design assets, so I reconstructed its structure by extracting video transcripts and writing brief introductory text for each section. I compiled both the recovered and newly created materials into a standardized Google Docs template to support future build-out and cross-platform adaptation.

Core Competencies

  • Creating Design Resources and Project Documentation

I reconstructed and documented the course using a structured template that made the module legible across teams and platforms. My work included generating video transcripts, summarizing media content, and drafting new framing text—all organized in a format that supports collaborative review and cross-platform adaptation. The resulting Google Doc served both as a reference for design intent and as a foundational asset for future implementation.

  • Using Knowledge of Technology Affordances and Constraints

Although I didn’t design for Canvas directly, I collaborated with my LXD mentor to consider how the course materials might eventually function within that platform. As I reconstructed content from Coursera in Google docs, I noted elements that could present challenges in Canvas—such as activity framing and section length—and suggested organization of the materials that could support smoother experience in CANVAS. This process helped me build fluency in thinking across platforms.

This project deepened my understanding of what it means to support learning design through documentation, translation, and platform awareness. While I wasn’t creating new content, I was making key decisions about how to document and review existing materials so they could be used, evaluated, and adapted by others. This process also helped me recognize the specific constraints and affordances of different platforms. I began to see how different affordances could impact usability, and how each platform requires different strategies to maintain clarity and cohesion.
