For over a decade, I've been deeply immersed in the world of education, and the journey has been nothing short of remarkable. My academic path has taken me through esteemed institutions like the University of Iowa and the University of Michigan. During this journey, I've worn many hats, teaching subjects ranging from the art of writing to second language acquisition, including Spanish for Health care providers. Moreover, my students and I have actively contributed as translators and interpreters in local clinics bridging linguistic gaps to ensure that everyone receives the healthcare they deserve.

My teaching philosophy? I believe teaching and learning is a collaborative enterprise. As social beings, our interactions and shared experiences enrich our lives on this remarkable planet.Teaching in college is all about crafting an immersive blend of theory and hands-on activities that venture far beyond the classroom walls. I'm a firm believer that learning is a dynamic two-way street. By engaging the community we embark on a collective journey of learning, care and support for each other.

Of course, my mission extends to inspiring students to think independently and critically about the world they're part of. I aim to fuel their curiosity and passion for lifelong learning with the lessons drawn from my own life experiences as writer and scholar. If you're curious about the courses I've taught, including my expertise in medical Spanish, curriculum development and outreach initiatives, I invite you to explore my complete cv here.
