Beta Testing Navigating Disruption

This artifact documents my first beta testing experience of Navigating Disruption: Generative AI in the Workplace, a multi-course online learning series developed by the Center for Academic Innovation. I participated in the testing process ahead of the November 2024 launch, offering targeted feedback on user experience, technical flow, and course structure. My role involved moving through each module with a learner’s eye, while documenting how the course elements functioned together as a whole. I focused on identifying subtle friction points—such as unclear module transitions, inconsistent labeling, or minor interface issues—that, if adjusted, could improve clarity and learner confidence. I completed a structured feedback form and shared observations with the design team to support their final revision cycle.

Core Competencies

  • Using Research and Evaluation Skills

This artifact reflects my development as a designer capable of conducting embedded, experience-based evaluation. I used my own learner perspective as a form of observational data—tracking how sequencing, navigation, and platform design influenced usability. My feedback surfaced small but actionable adjustments that contributed to a formative evaluation process and supported the course’s readiness for public launch.

This first experience marked an important step in developing my evaluation skills as a learning designer. I learned how to move through a course with an analytic mindset. It deepened my ability to surface design issues through grounded observation, and to articulate feedback in ways that support iteration. I left with a more precise sense of how structure, flow, and clarity shape the learner experience—and how intentional evaluation can meaningfully shape design outcomes.
