Contingent Valuation Method and Non-market Valuation for Estimating Damages from the BP Oil Spill

This artifact includes two redesigned slide decks, exported as accessible PDFs. The materials reflect applied accessibility practices intended to support more equitable access for diverse learners. I worked from the original slide decks and applied accessibility improvements throughout.

Core Competencies

  • Integrating Inclusive Design Principles and Practices

This artifact demonstrates my ability to apply accessibility guidelines and UDL principles in practice. I addressed learner variability by designing with assistive technologies in mind and by simplifying visual structure to enhance clarity and usability.

  • Creating Design Resources and Project Documentation

The final PDFs function as both learner-facing materials and internal design references. This project gave me experience in translating accessibility goals into clear, testable design decisions, and producing materials that can serve as models for future accessibility-focused design work.

This project helped me bridge the gap between theoretical understanding of accessibility and practical application. I became more attuned to how layout, structure, and visual contrast impact the usability of learning materials—especially for those using screen readers or other assistive tools. It also shifted my perspective: accessibility isn’t something to layer on at the end—it’s a way of thinking embedded in the design process from the beginning.
